Lovely Senior Portraits on Hontoon Island
Senior portraits are meant to capture a sense of who a young adult is as they emerge into the world of self-reliance and begin the journey of their career, whether they’re going to college or entering the workforce. Sometimes this involves choosing a special locale, creating elaborate backgrounds, or implementing props like sports equipment and musical instruments. In Emily’s case, it was all about simple beauty.
Emily is from DeLand, Florida, and if you aren’t familiar, DeLand has plenty of beautiful scenery that’s perfect for photography. For Emily’s senior photos, we chose the stunning Hontoon Island, State Park.
Emily decided to keep it simple for her senior portraits with a single casual outfit, but it was a perfect choice for the location. The natural greenery was a beautiful backdrop that served to highlight Emily’s breezy nature and her classic beauty. The wind did us a favor and we were able to get plenty of fantastic portraits that highlight her lovely blond hair flowing in the wind.
Even with the focus on simplicity, we were able to incorporate a fun variety of photos into Emily’s senior portraits. With dramatic posed photos that used shadowing to highlight her statuesque figure along with plenty of lighthearted shots of her subtle smile, we had the pleasure of bringing Emily’s many sides to the surface.
This photo session was also uniquely fun because it allowed us to play with a few more creative and adventurous photography techniques. The portraits peeking through foreground leaves turned out to have precisely the mystique we were aiming for, and Emily did a fantastic job with posing throughout the session.
